The Perini Navi 48m yacht Belle Brise (formerly CORELIA) was originally built in 1993 and remained with the same owner throughout its lifetime until its sale and complete reconstruction in 2023-2025.
The Yacht represents more than a vessel; she stands as an icon of luxury, performance, and timeless design. A reconstruction was not merely a restoration project but a journey to honour the yacht's heritage while equipping it for the demands of modern-day yachting. The interior and exterior design of Belle Brise were crafted in-house by Perini Navi, reflecting the shipyard's commitment to luxury and functionality
Reconstruction 2023-2025
The reconstruction of BELLE BRISE involved extensive upgrades, including the dismantling and reconstruction of most of its systems and spaces, significantly enhancing performance, safety, and onboard comfort.
The focus was on selectively updating key systems and features while preserving the yacht's core identity and timeless aesthetic.
The hull, superstructure, and interior remain largely intact, but the onboard systems - including propulsion, electrical, and plumbing - were mostly replaced to meet current environmental and regulatory standards.
Additionally, to switch the yacht's status to Commercial, both the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the Malta Flag required significant upgrades to the firefighting systems, emergency protocols, and life-saving gear, in order to align with the requirements for charter operations.
The entire project is meticulously managed by Buyer’s Representative, Seamotion Srl. In collaboration with BELLE BRISE’s Chief Engineer and Bosun. Under the leadership of CEO Susanna Corsagni of Seamotion and her team—who bring over 25 years of experience at Perini Navi—the yacht has retained its Perini Navi DNA while embracing a new era of performance and reliability

Reconstruction phases
The first phase of the re-construction focused on overhauling the yacht's engineering and technical systems to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with modern standards:
- Engines & Auxiliary Systems: New, state-of-the-art engines and auxiliary systems were installed to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend the yacht’s operational range. Environmental compliance, including urea systems, was prioritized.
- Propulsion System: A full renovation ensured optimal efficiency and reliability with the replacement of necessary parts.
- Electrical Systems: Completely new wiring and new switchboards with cutting-edge technology, complemented by new generators, batteries, and a shore power transformer for seamless operation.
- Hydraulics & Rigging: Original Perini Navi winches were fully restored and hydraulic systems were modernized to ensure optimal tension and reliability. Rigging inspections led to upgrades for enhanced safety and sailing performance.
- Navigation & Communication: Advanced navigation and telecommunication systems were integrated alongside modern audio-video systems and internet connectivity to meet the expectations of owners and guests.
- Safety Upgrades: Stringent ABS and Malta Flag safety regulations were met with updated fire-fighting equipment, emergency systems and life-saving measures, ensuring the yacht to be ready for both private and commercial use.
- Climate Control: A brand-new air conditioning system was installed to provide unparalleled comfort, ensuring optimal conditions across all living spaces.
- Water Systems: New sewage treatment systems, fresh water makers and boilers were introduced to enhance efficiency and meet compliance standards.
- Galley Upgrades: The yacht's galley was entirely removed and replaced with modern appliances and ergonomic designs for improved functionality with fireproof insulation (B15).
- Steering System: New pumps and other components ensured precise maneuverability and reliability.
- Sails & Ropes: Most of the sails were replaced to maintain optimal performance. New ropes were added for durability and ease of operation.
The decision to switch from private to commercial registration added new dimensions to the reconstruction. Meeting ABS and Malta Flag commercial chartering requirements ensured that the yacht was not only safe but also adaptable to broader usage:
- Enhanced Safety: The rigorous safety standards for commercial vessels led to additional updates and improvements across all systems, including emergency protocols, firefighting measures, and life-saving equipment.

- Environmental Considerations: Pollution-reduction measures, including the installation of advanced sewage systems and emission control technologies, aligned with international regulations.

The focus in the next phase has turned to the yacht's elegant interior. The goal is to faithfully restore the original design while integrating modern materials and subtle improvements to ensure durability and comfort:
- Original Mahogany Paneling: Skilled artisans are meticulously restoring the mahogany wood paneling, bringing back its original luster and timeless beauty.
- Furniture & Design Details: Existing furniture and design elements are being repaired and refinished to honor the yacht's iconic heritage.
- Sanitary Upgrades: New vacuum toilets, efficient showers and stylish taps are being installed, offering improved comfort and functionality.
- Durability Meets Authenticity: Modern materials are being subtly integrated into the restoration process, ensuring that the interior spaces remain as practical as they are beautiful.
Attention will then shift to the yacht's exterior, where a combination of aesthetic and functional upgrades will bring new life to its timeless design:
- Hull & Superstructure: After removing the original filler and inspecting the hull, new filler and fresh paint will be applied to ensure durability and restore the yacht's sleek, elegant lines.
- Masts & Spreaders: Non-destructive testing was conducted on the masts, followed by primer and paint application. New spreaders, jumpers by Rondal, lights, and antennas will be installed to enhance functionality and appearance.
- Teak Decking: After removing all the old teak and filler, the decking will be entirely replaced with high-quality teak, combining visual appeal with practical slip resistance
After months of meticulous work, the Belle Brise will finally be ready to return to the water. Extensive sea trials will be conducted to verify the success of the refit:
- Performance Testing: The yacht will demonstrate enhanced speed, stability, and maneuverability, exceeding expectations in all performance metrics.
- Owner Approval: The yacht's owner will be able to witness the transformation firsthand, expressing immense satisfaction with the results.
- Celebrating the Transformation: These trials will mark the culmination of the project, showcasing the yacht's renewed purpose and modern capabilities.
Workflow Gallery
Work preparation
Lusben's expansive keel pit - the largest in the Mediterranean - proved crucial for the complex task of extracting the Belle Brise's lifting keel piston, a job that took three full days to complete. The new custom-machined piston was fabricated by Meclizine in Carrara.
Masts
The aluminium masts and their in-furling system, originally envisioned by Fabio Perini, underwent a comprehensive overhaul. Non-destructive testing, new filler work, and the complete repainting of the masts and booms were all part of this. The masts received new cabling and LED lighting, and new spreaders were created to house Starlink antennas for constant high-speed connectivity.
The main, mizzen, fisherman, staysail, and genoa were overhauled, and their hydraulic systems were upgraded to ensure optimal tension and reliability.

HULL
The initial phase of the refit involved thoroughly scanning the hull to assess the steel thickness and identify any areas of corrosion. All the existing filler was then stripped, and the hull and topsides were fully sandblasted down to the bare metal.
As part of the restoration, portions of the onboard tanks were rebuilt, and new manholes were added to facilitate easier maintenance access. Additionally, select sections of the hull plating were replaced before the application of a complete Alexseal paint system.

Main deck
The entire decking was re-laid using high-quality 18-20mm teak planks. Additionally, new handrails were installed to meet the requirements for commercial operations.
On the foredeck, new lockers were added to provide dedicated storage space for the life rafts. These lockers also serve a secondary function as wave breakers, helping to shelter the new Lomac Euforia tender mounted on its chocks.

WHEELHOUSE
Within the wheelhouse, the original analogue navigation consoles have been replaced with a comprehensive digital Furuno suite, including full ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) capabilities.
Fly Bridge
The bridge area has also been outfitted with a new Anschutz gyro compass, as well as a certified monitoring system from Cantalupi. This monitoring system is integrated throughout the yacht, with repeater displays located on the flybridge and in the crew mess.
ENGINE ROOM
The bilges, engine room, and pump room underwent a thorough sandblasting and repainting process. These areas were also re-engineered in 3D to optimize the available space for the installation of modern systems and equipment.
The new powerful and efficient engines 588 kW (800 hp) MAN engines are coupled with urea-SCR technology, which improves performance, extends the yacht's operational range, and reduces NOx emissions to align with current regulations.
Two new 80kW CAT C4 generators were installed, and the original emergency generator was fully refurbished. A new battery pack was also added, housed in a cabinet in the forward dining room on the main deck.

PUMP ROOM
The pump room equipment has been comprehensively upgraded, including new boilers, Idromar MC5 watermakers, a Dometic Condaria HVAC system, a Hamann sewage plant, Idromar UV and silver-ion water treatment, and ATUs and fancoils.

The interior of the Belle Brise is carefully restored to remain faithful to the yacht's heritage. The solid mahogany joinery and marble wet surfaces have been meticulously refurbished in both the guest and crew areas.
All 33 opening portholes in the hull are replaced with custom-crafted, sealed stainless steel versions by Fabbri Fiore to comply with commercial safety codes.
The original light switches and outlets are restored, and all lighting is converted to energy-efficient LED technology by Cantalupi.

LAZARETTE
A new shore power transformer and emergency steering system are installed in the lazarette, along with a new Seares damping system for the shell door.
Galley
The galley is completely rebuilt with fire-rated insulation, new pipework, commercial-grade appliances, and a walk-in cold store.
Laundry
The laundry is fitted with Miele marine-grade appliances, new plumbing and waste water tanks.

The Perini Navi two-masted ketch is a true masterpiece of sailing engineering, crafted for both performance and comfort. Here is an overview of its sail system:
- Mast Configuration: Two masts: Main mast and a Mizzen mast. The two-masted setup provides greater flexibility in sail combinations, making it easier to handle the yacht under various conditions.
- Sail Plan: Ketch. Mainsail, mizzen sail, fisherman sail, and a variety of headsails. This combination, along with a lifting keel, enables optimal performance in varying wind conditions, allowing for both cruising and racing.
- Advanced Rigging: The yacht features high-quality fixing and running rigging made from durable materials.
- Hydraulic Systems: The ketch is equipped with a hydraulic in-mast furling system for the mainsail and mizzen sail, as well as hydraulic furling systems for the fisherman sail and headsails, facilitating easier upwind manoeuvres in accordance with Mr. Fabio Perini’s original sailing system design.

o New exhaust and catalyst system .
o Reconstruction of watertight door to engine room protected against bad weather
o 2 New gearboxes – MAN.
o 2 New Diesel generators – CATERPILLAR C4.4 80 kW (100 KVA) 50Hz.
o New air compressor system – Gianneschi.
o New rudder steering pumps
● Pump Room complete rebuilding:
